Then she appeared in the film Dil In which she shared the screen with Aamir Khan. In her early years, the Mumbai-born dancer began studying at a very early age. When she was a teen she started acting, and was a victim for a few years as the majority of her films at first were unsuccessful. Eventually, she found success with Indian cinema and rose to the very top. The actress took a hiatus from acting following her marriage before returning to the industry of entertainment. In recent years, Dixit was a key player as a character in Gulaab Gang a movie about the struggle of Indian women. Dixit has been nominated 15 times for Filmfare Awards. She won eight of the awards. Padma Shri - the fourth most prestigious civilian award of India is awarded to Dixit. She is also acknowledged for her work in the field of charity.
